Default gas mixing with the oil 1998 v70 xc
I noticed a thick yellowish residue on the oil dipstick. It clearly smells of gasoline! How is the gas getting in? What is the problem and how do you fix this?

I would say either fuel pressure regulator is bad or the car is running so rich unburn't gas is seeping into the oil.

Thanks for your reply! The exaust seems normal, ie, no black smoke. So then, would you say it is still the fuel pressure reg.? And is there any danger to driving in this condition?

It is quite possible it is that or a leaking injector. I would change the oil ASAP. Also find out which one is bad and try to replace asap.
