Gas-sipping Squirrels
I live in a wooded area and squirrels routinely do damage to my cars; even chewing on rubber tires! Looks like one got into the engine bay of the Volvo and chewed the fuel line just before the fitting. They chewed THROUGH the line and there are bite marks in many other spots of the line. Squirrels are stupid.
Is there a direct replacement piece (from fitting to filter)...or do I need to simply rebuild the line with new fitting? If so, does anyone know the hose and fitting sizes offhand? I guess I could go to a junkyard but rather have a fresh piece.
(p.s. I'm in the market for a .22 with a suppressor...)
Thanks.

not sure which part of the line you are referring to - can you post a pic, or better yet, go to a dealer parts web site to find the parts page:
Fuel lines from tank to engine -1995. Fits: 1995 Volvo 850 5DRS S.R 2.3l 5 cylinder Fuel Injected Turbo | Volvo Wholesale Parts Direct
(if you call them, ask for Tim, a friend of the forum).
PS - problem is with chipmunks. They leave acorns between the hood and its insulation in my car :-) I'm always using compressed air to blow their debris off the top of the engine covers.

Thanks for the link. It's either #13 or the return line #18.
If I turn the key to pressurize the system, gas leaks. When car is on, it's like a geiser.
There are chew marks on both lines. I'll get a photo..

UPDATE
So, after searching far and wide for a complete replacement piece (see #13 in diagram), I took the advice of the parts dept of my local Volvo dealership (who told me part may be discontinued and not available) and people here, and simply "built" the piece using 1/4 inch fuel line. I removed the fittings from the old unit and attached them to the new fuel line, added clamps, and had the whole thing together in 1/2 hour. Cost: About $15 worth of fuel line.
FWIW, there was no pressure regulator on my feed line.
After a closer look at the bite marks, it appears to be a mouse (or other small rodent) that did the damage, not a squirrel. I would like to apologize to the squirrel community for my earlier anger.
Now stay off the birdfeeders!
On to the next issue...
