About two months ago I left my car parked in the street and when I came back from the office the grille was missing. Maybe somebody stole it for fun or it fell off and I didn't realize it (those plastic clips are a POS).

Anyways, I bought a new ScanTech grille and Volvo emblem from FCPGroton, and installed it yesterday. I installed the grille but apparently I need a placeholder for the emblem, the part that fills up the diagonal line in the picture.

Anybody know where I can get that or if it should have come with the grille? I looked at the pictures at FCP's website but I couldn't find it.

I probably should have bought the IPD mesh grille with the replacement latch.

Not to be the bearer of bad news but you are probably going to have to buy another grill just to get the emblem. Can you return it and get a aftermarket grill? In the long run you would be better off.

I can stick the emblem on, but it is smaller than the rectangular area in the middle of the grille and the diagonal line will be empty. I think there's some part missing in this "kit". What do you think?

WTF, where do I get that?

 

I don't know anyone that sells the actual slash. I would have gone straight to ebay. I just searched volvo 850 grille and found a whole page full of aftermarket grilles and oem grilles with the slash.

 

I buy from FCP because they have great customer service and very good prices.

So I'm stuck with this "incomplete" grille, which is better than having a couple of horns, but it does not solve the problem.

If FCP sells the grille without the molding then I imagine it is possible to get the slash molding separately. Otherwise, the grille only useful if you want to replace an old grille and you still have a decent slash molding which you reuse.

Maybe the fcpgroton vendor user on this forum could give me some feedback?

Dealer should sell the emblem. I know they sold the emblem for my S70, as I needed it among other things back when I bought the car (it was wrecked when I bought it) Problem there was... they sell the slash as one part, the little black lines that go IN the slash as another part, and the square Volvo symbol in the middle as yet another part. You know, because LOTS of people need one of those things without the others...

Another option is a salvage yard- find an 850 with a grille, maybe one that's broken but has a good emblem, and buy the emblem from there. Should be less than $10.

 

Too bad I did not know about this three weeks ago. I threw away a damaged grill that had an intact emblem.

 

I am very sorry you are in this predicament. I am not sure if we sell the piece you need for the grill but the best thing to do would be to talk to customer service at 1-877-634-0063. They will be able to help you with find the piece you need.
