Hello From A Newbie With A Question
Hello All:
I just bought my first Volvo ( 1995 850 Sedan-5 Speed Manual) and I've got to tell you that I am really impressed with this car. Just looking around this car and doing basic new owner maintainence I can see that it is really an intelligent and well engineered vehicle. I am looking forward to driving this for a while. I have found a ton of information here on the forum that has helped me out a lot already. Thank you all!
I do have one question that I haven't seen an answer to. The car has a broken odometer and while I have found info on how to repair it, I wondered if there was a way via the computer to find out the actual total mileage on the car. I have a trip meter but wondered if there was a trick to getting the computer to show total mileage. I've reset the service light using the jumper trick found on here. Thanks for that help! Just wondered if there was a similar trick to get total mileage. Thanks all for your help!

Since you have a '95 you indeed can. Instructions are here:

In my case I corrected the odometer by chucking up a pencil in a battery drill, running CCW, and got them to the point where the matched the computer. If I ever sell the car it will cost me but I would rather have accurate mileage for service intervals - I plan to drive the car to at least 400k miles anyway.
I took some pictures of that process of mileage correction toward the end of this thread - see page 3:

+1 Additionally while you are in there to fix the odometer, you may want to check all the bulbs in the instrument cluster and replace them as needed.
