A bad Cam sensor WILL stop the Spark. Code 214,314

There is also a code for the Mass flow sensor Code 121
Coolant temp sensor Code 123

Did it run once the Job was done?

Follow link to learn how to pull and Clear the codes. Clear them and then try to start it again and see what ones come back.

hello again, on going problem, I keep getting code 214 in the 93 850. new volvo sensor. Also stalls intermitently. Will a cam sensor fail and not set a code? Cleared code a few times and it does come back, any ideas?

It is possible to have a faulty sensor without triggering a code on rare occasions.

As to 2-1-4, the '95 manual states it's RPM sensor. See attached for detail.

If cleaning & reconnecting the electrical connectors or the sensor tip does not solve the problem, you may need to replace the RPM sensor. If the RPM sensor is new, I would clean the ECU connection. To do this, you need to disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 15 minutes. When you reconnect the battery, you would have to enter the code for the radio, if it's original, as well as having the ECU re-learn idle speed.

Went to 2 volvo pro's and they found nothing. Keeps setting 214 code and intermittent stall no rhyme or reason. Replaced main relay, factory crps sensor, they tried a different computer, and cam sensor. What next?

thanks for the help.

Did you test/replace the RPM sensor? Why did you replace CPS? Did the shops you visited inspect the flywheel for missing/damaged ring gear? Have you also traced the RPM sensor wiring for possible short-circuit due to chafed sheath? Or for open wire? Or for dirty/corroded connections? If the same code keeps coming back, it is almost certain that there is a problem somewhere within the RPM sensor circuit.

They checked the flywheel and said it was fine. They tried a different computer and it still does the same thing intermittent stall no warning, starts right back up. Replaced because of code 214 and no other codes. Connections look good, wiring intact from sensor to computer. Thinking of running new wires to computer. I don't know? If it was an open circuit wouldn't it not start?

thanks for any help
