HELP! RADIATOR PETCOCK BROKE!

RE: HELP! RADIATOR PETCOCK BROKE!
Hi Jimmy,
It does happen[8D].
Here's what I did. Take out a hex (Allen) socket, find the closest size, hammer it into the petcock and use a ratchet to turn it out. If you don't have a socket-type hex, you may be able to use regular bar-type one, just hammer it into the petcock and try turning it by hand or grab it with a Vise-grip/pliers and then turn it. If you don't know what I mean, observe the bottom of the petcock carefully (where it broke), there should be a hole shaped for Allen wrench.
I bought 2 new petcocks from FCP Groton, as I could see the original/future owner breaking it.
$8.80 isn't that bad for a lesson learned. Make your friend pay for it too, as he/she broke it
When you put the new one back in, finger tight + 1/8 turn will suffice. Don't go any tighter or you'll be coming back to this thread[8D]
Good luck,
JPN
