Default Help solving hissing sound please?

Ok I have a 1994 Turbo 850 wagon. At idle there is a hissing sound coming from just under, and off to the right of the power steering pump. Or just under and off to the right of the thermostat, and it's Guage . I would upload a photo, but you guys have no way to simply attach a photo with out entering some lousy URL etc!!! Pisses me off! Anyway I would like to know the function of this vacuum line. It looks pretty easy to replace . Any suggestions would be great.

I have been having issues with finding out where and what this vacuum line does as well, as i rebuilt my head, and am trying to put everything back together. but from my understanding this vacuum line goes from the passenger side of the intake manifold, to way over on the other side of the engine back next to the turbo. it connects right where a large black hose connects, the black hose is a solid plastic hose(caution this black hose is fragile and BREAKS easily. i broke mine and had to replace it with radiator hose.) with a foam covering with rubber elbows on each end. it connects to your oil trap which is located under your intake manifold, and goes under your intake manifold over to the drivers side-ish part of the turbo, in front of it, the vacuum line connects where this connects i believe. if i am wrong, then please tell me where it goes, because i have been looking at diagrams, and could be misled.

As explained, there is a vac line on the passenger side of the intake manifold.

As for an easy way to attach photos, there actually is. I had about 10,000 post before someone told me to go ADVANCE and then click MANAGE ATTACHMENTS to upload photos in seconds.

Here you go. Since my last post I copied the page, saved it, opened it in a edit program, cropped it, highlighted the button, saved it, uploaded it here and then typed this message.

Default Photo of area with hiss leak

Ok now we're getting somewhere. See photo. What it it's function? Looks like an easy fix. My car runs great - this hiss, or vacuum leak which I'm sure is unacceptable. More info on this would be great. Thank again for the photo sugestion! Duh!

That is part of your PCV which is torn open. If you don't know the age of your PCV, just replace the entire system ASAP. I pulled one a few days ago and the lower block hole was 95% blocked. Not good. If the system has been serviced, just replace the elbow with a Volvo one (or silicone tube).

Yeah, the fragile black hose your talking about is the one that is cracked; right at the elbow. See photo.
