Default Solving the last few problems

Alright. Now that I'm nearing the file stages. There are still a few problems that are preventing this car from becoming a daily driver, as I intend it.

Wtf is this?

It's obviously apart of a PCV system, but it doesnt logically connect to anything. Theres also another hose witch connects to the intake hose just before the throttle body, and it is'nt connected to anything either. It would seem I'm missing some equipment. Problem is, I don't know what. I found this photo on IPD

I have G and H. That kit looks like includes, A B C and F is a gasket What is D and E?

I don't think that cap is the right one for this car... So the hose coming out of it doesn't go anywhere... take it off, plug the whole or get the right oil cap.

If you have G and H you must have the rest, too, under them. D is the Oil Separator that sits under the intake manifold on top of pipe E and F is the gasket between the block and the Separator. To access all that best to take off the intake manifold... The separator needs to be cleaned now and then as if plugged up it will cause excessive pressure and blow seals (see Flame Trap).

LOL! That oil cap is from a push rod B20 motor. Obviously someone's technique for lowering crankcase pressure without repairing the flame trap set up. On B18's and B20's, that hose would go to the intake...

That makes sense SwiftJustice, But I've still got one disconnected hose hanging off the intake hose.

So all this stuff is underneth the intake manifold? I guess that makes sense. I think IPD has some sort of relocation kit. I'll take some more photos in a few days, as I work the weekend.

Thanks for the help

Resist removing part D, the actual oil trap. Hose E is inside the block and often cracks, breaks and falls down into the oil pan! I've had some success by pouring kerosene through it and then immediately changing the oil. From the oil trap upwards, the diagram shows it to be quite simple, which it is. Later 240's have the flame trap hoses come on up above the intake which makes maintenance simpler. Removing the intake makes it much less frustrating to do...but that's optional. Notice how the small line goes to the throttle body? Over time oil fumes create a residue that builds up on the throttle blade and eventually can even keep it from closing causing poor idle.

My car runs like a top, except for in idle, in witch case it sounds like a sputtering aircraft. I'll look into it.

I think im confusing part G for that incorrect hose hanging off my oilcap. Part H, I'd really have to look at. I don't have a photo of it, its pitch black outside. One hose is connected, and one is'nt.

This is a pretty strange setup to me. I'll take it slow, and see what progress I can make.

Appreciate the help once again.
