Default How far is the passenger side cv axle supposed to go in? 1996 850 10v

My passenger side cv axle doesnt look all the way in after putting it back in, the bearing is where it should be, and i just replaced the seals. Am i just wrong or is there a bigger issue at work? Pics for reference

The bearing is snug

Passenger side axle mated to transmission. It looks like it should be in further

Looks like it's stopped at the retaining clip. Needs to go in as far as the shoulder

but the bearing wont let it go any further. As the photo suggests, it is in all the way. Also this cv axle has no retainer.
