Ok my '96 PE has been sitting for a while & I finally got me some room to work on it. I've done timing belts & water pumps on Honda Civics & Toyota Camrys. I've never worked on a Volvo's. What's exactly involved & what special tools would I need to attempt this in my garage? Any info/tips would be appreciated! Thanks!

 

For the rear main seal you need to drop the transmission...can you do that in your garage?

 

I have a few floor jacks big & small. Will that work or would I need a tranny Jack? How far does it need to drop/come out?

 

You don't need to drop the transmission to change the timing belt. Opposite ends of the engine. A floor trolly jack is what I used to pull my manual transmission during my clutch folly.
