Default How many miles do you have?

Just wondering how many miles you all have on your 850 and what you've had to do to them? How has reliability been? I'm using an 850 turbo sedan as my family hauler and don't want to end up on the side of the road...it's got 135000 miles now. Please, tell me about your cars!

Got over 277000 on my 98 S70 T5. I bought it with a ton of problems mainly mechanical. Slowly but surely those problems are getting fixed. I love my car to death but it has cost quite a bit to get it to where it is at this moment in time because I work at a dealer so that's where the majority of the parts come from.

243,000 on our 95 850 Turbo..... Pretty much normal maintenance except for a new head when the son blew a radiator hose and drove it another ten miles to get it home. Blew the head gasket and warped the head.......

94 850 turbo wagon 71,000 miles. Replaced timing belt, water pump, seals, oil cooler lines, all coolant hoses including small turbo ones, inner and outer tie rods, alignment, fuel leak from pump gasket, tires, cap, rotor, wires, sparkplugs, motor mounts, list is long luckily I am a mechanic and do all my work.

This car is expensive to get back in shape. Only had the car for about a month, hopefully it is a reliable car. Car drives great at the moment.

First volvo for me.

Wow, brokeazz, I guess thats why you have that name lol. I can only imagine how much you paid for all those parts. My 95 has twice as many miles and rides excellent so you should be in good shape for quite a while with all those parts

243,000 Miles (and some change). Running very strong. I need to replace my drivers side axle and some tires. Other than that, I would drive this car to Maine, weather permitting, tomorrow.

276,000 here. I bought my car for parts for $450, thinking it had a bad engine. Turned out the distributor caught fire internally, and the rotor had melted ($15). I have done nothing else to this car - everything works. Pretty amazing. I guess it was very well maintained.

The clutch was slipping, and I bought a new one, but it has stopped slipping. I think an oil leak may have wet the clutch temporarily, but I am not sure.

My plan is to do a timing belt and pulleys change and install the clutch, and keep it around a while.

168,000 here. I've only had the car for about two months and have spent the time just updating little things. It's a very mechanically sound car and I plan on giving it to my son as his first car in 4 years.

He's the most cautious kid I've ever seen. Should that change, we'll find something else. But, it's safe and I can work on it. Those are the main things.

Now, his sister, on the other hand...the slower the better, for her.

Somewhere a bit north of 250k miles, I'm guessing. The odo broke at 198K a few years ago and no one knows how to read the mileage on a '97, so I can only take a wild stab in the dark.

123k - have replaced the entire front suspension (and something up there is making noise again after 14 months), OBX exhaust, IPD gauge pod, fuel pump, injectors and injector seals, valve stem seals, cams, turbo, wheels, springs, rear shocks, headlights, knock sensor, r wing, r seats, window tint, brakes and rotors, silicone vacuum hoses, wheel spacers, msd ignition coil, engine and trans mounts, roof racks, grille, n/a throttle body, and cam sensor. Other than that, not much...

161.5K miles. 1 clutch pressure plate (early failure many years ago), 1 clutch pedal (Recently broke at 160K. Thankfully it was inexpensive to fix!), 1 fuel pump relay.

That's all I can think of in terms of driveability failures for my car over its lifetime. Everything else is in pretty good shape (my ODO still works, remarkably), and other nickel-and-dime repairs/replacements have been minimal. It's been pretty reliable!

Just hit 279k exactly when I got home from work today. Didn't realize how much I've driven until now. Planning to drive it from LA and San Diego this weekend, not a very long drive but the longest I've done with the car. Looking forward to doing the oil cooler o rings, pcv system, and re doing all of the vacuum lines to and from the turbo as the last bit of engine work that I need to do.

damien: if you're going to do vacuum lines, replace them with silicone - you won't regret that.

122k on my '97 R, bought early 2012 at 100k. Had to replace front brakes, so upgraded to 302mm while I was at it. Replaced one cv shaft due to split boot, and only routine oil changes since.

214,777 on the yellow, bought with 210k showing.

Cars don't know if they are driven 30 miles or 350 miles. In 2013 my '95 850 went to the following cities, some more than once:
- Little Rock AR
- Albuquerque NM
- Phoenix AZ
- The Grand Canyon
- Los Vegas NV
- Salt Lake City, UT
- Mount Rushmore
- Sioux Falls, SD
- Lincoln NE
- Cincinnati OH
- Atlanta GA
- Charlotte NC
- Raleigh NC
- Dallas TX
- Memphis TN
And through all the towns between (once with a U-Haul trailer hitched to the back and once with a motor in the back).

I'm sadly surprised of the number of people that are afraid to take their Volvo out of town.

Woah I never said that I was scared to drive the car out of town I just have a job that does not allow me to drive out of town. I do not baby my car at all aside from giving it everything it wants mostly Volvo parts. But I drive it harder than I've driven any other car I've owned and she runs better than most cars out there.
