Volvo 850 Low Miles | eBay

Personally I would not own it because I won't by a car that is not turbo. But, if I were to buy it for my mom or something, I might pay $3,800 for it because I would need to budget for a burnt valve. A car that has not been driven for 6 years is bound to burn a valve.

$3,800.

It's done 400 miles in 6 years? I find that strange. Maybe the odometer has stopped working and been repaired recently?

I find it hard to believe that someone would buy a car with 57,494kms on it, then only drive 400 miles in 6 years? I would be driving the *** off the car for the first few weeks.

And it is a base model non turbo and they're asking 10k for it?

I wouldn't pay more than $5K in Australia for it.

It appears that the ODO is working. The tale, tale sign for me is the trip ODO. It reads mileage. It is very rare for the main ODO to break and the trip to still be working.

My guess is that the car was elderly owned and maybe stopped driving. At that point it was parked and left sitting. I know of a 245 that has been driven about 300 miles in the past 5 years. It sits most of the time in a guys garage. It is the last large item that his mom left him 4 years ago. He keeps telling me that he is going to sell it to me but has not given me a price yet. If I get it I will mod the heck out of it and make it a killer sleeper.

I wonder how often the oil has been changed. Yikes! Will someone start the car with that 6 year old oil & filter on it? That will likely age the motor 10,000 miles per minute.

Oh, I believe the mileage is in US miles so that will be about 96,000 km.

I thought the odometer is working too, however I was thinking maybe it had not worked for several years and someone may have fixed it recently. The only way you would know is to read the cluster via OBDII I suppose.

I don't question the mileage. Just don't understand why these folks are asking $10,000 for it. Not any kind of special edition or anything.

Yeah agree w/Brick850; would be very suspicious of that mileage; 200 miles in past 6.5 years, suuuure.

Seen this quite a bit; in most states, after car is 10 years old, the DMV essentially doesn't care if mileage is accurate. Buyer beware, do a very thorough inspection mainly looking for rust and body damage. Started out life as lease car and it lived in NJ; two strikes right there IMO.

At very best it's worth about $4K and only reason I would be interested would be to drop turbo drivetrain into it and make a real sleeper.

I think they are on drugs but the thing is, it likely won't sell and then they'll start peeling a grand off here and there over time until some buyer finds a price they think is reasonable.
I'd rather have a turbo with 2,3,or 4 times the miles and at one fifth or less the price.

max 3k imho. I would say from personal experience that that thing is likely to have more issues come due to not being driven much. but 10k for a base model practically no dice.

Buy a 2K turbo and spend 2K in maintenance and upgrades and I'm pretty sure you'd have a nicer car for less than half the asking price.
