I lost my remote for my 96 850t, got a new one from dealership, but now service dept. wants $150 to program the new remote. Is there anyway to program the remote myself? Thanks in advance for any advice!!!
Also just today I noticed a humming sound coming from the gas tank. Does this mean the fuel pump in the tank is about to go south? Again any advice would be much appreciated!!!!!

 

Just to add, I tried the 5 times on and off, and could't get it to work, led light never came on. Is there another way to get it into prog. mode?

On other makes of cars, I have gone on to use noisy fuel pumps without a problem.

If you are able to place a hand on it... If it is hot to the touch, I would replace it.

The best thing to do, is to drive car for 20 minutes and check fuel pressure.

Also, a restriction -- such as clogged fuel filter -- will cause fuel pump to make noise.

 

I just programmed my keyless remote by turning the ignition on and off five times, leaving it on after the fifth time and then pressing one of the buttons on the remote. You said you tried that and it did not work? Is the battery good in the remote?

 

Are you sure you have a 850 remote and not a 960 remote?

 

Hi and sorry for jumping in. How will a 960 remote be program? Will the above 5 time procedure work?
