Lightbulb I pulled a head today to make a video...

I pulled a head today to make a video. I hope to have it up by Friday.

So, I have a set of NA cams if anyone needs them. $120 shipped, PM me. I actually have 3 sets of NA cams, all with the same PN as the '93 cams.

If you can do brakes the timing belt is no problem. Just take your time with some good instructions.

Cool! You should pull the N/A intake manifolds and Throttle bodies too. Heck you could build a package and compete with these guys!

The '93 & '94 NA cars have some funny vacuum bar valve thing on them that closes off 1/2 of the intake at some time, IDK.

I THINK I'm going to make a PCV SYSTEM video as well.

Did all the '94 N/As have the V-VIS? I thought it was just some of them..

Yeah, if it's going to go onto a turbo, you want the '95 or later N/A manifold.

There are a ton of NA's in the jy around here. I didn't know that intake manifold was any better than the one on my T-5R?

The only reason to put the N/A manifold onto the turbo engine is so the N/A Throttle Body (TB) fits w/o having to bore out your turbo manifold. Boxpin and gilber have done several threads on this; will see if i can dig up the link again.. here it tis..

Note gilber's post #16 on pg 2..

Thanks. I'll read the thread. However, the NA throttle body has that chip on them that people replace with the 960 throttle body plate. I didn't know they were putting those on the T5's.

Thanks Volvo, early '94's late '94's, early this late that. Baaa!

So, to increase intake flow, get a NA intake manifold without the baffle and get the NA throttle body and a 960 throttle plate. When you do this, you will need a custom intake turbo tube and custom intake throttle body linkage. It would also be good to get the plastic intake spacer. This is why I stay in the right lane.

From boxpin's post #7 of that thread:
"The 960 plate does not have the puck on it, N/A does. The puck helps with initial low throttle response, meaning it helps with the transition of the sharp open/close of the plate. It really does not affect the air flow since it is not any larger than the TB shaft. Most people go for the 960 plate, I have both and use the N/A."

That's really good to know. I'll just use the NA plate then instead of the 960 plate I have sitting in my drawer. I really like low end torque which the GLTs have but not the T5s.

IMO brakes are one of the easies to do on this car.changed mine today. Tbelt is very easy too if you have an idea of what you are doing

That's what the videos are for.

Other than that @ GDog, I did understand about the throttle body plates, just didn't know people were modding T5's with NA throttle bodies. I thought they were using the plates on NA cars. Again, I am so slow I might just pull into the shoulder. I did know the 960 plates had no puck, I've owned several 960's.

@ Vmax, I'm pretty sure they get the low end torque from the NA cam swap (with timing adjustments).

From what I have learned the NA cams, with the adjustment of the torque curve, add to every other mod you do. Most mods adds HP, a little here, a little there. The NA cams may add 10% efficiency across the board. So, add a bigger turbo you may get another 28 HP, with the NA cams it will perform like you added 31. Adjust boost to 16 PSI with the NA cams it acts like you adjusted to 17.5 PSI.

I'm seriously thinking about testing DYNO or at least 1/4 mile times on every mod I do. My ScanGauge II can do 1/4 mile times for me. So at a minimum I will do that.

With the NA cams you can dial them in and out all day long to test the efficiency of them.
