Default Ignition switch

Got this problem for a year now. Sometimes when start, had to move back key to get shifter out of park, or no lights on dash or belt warning lights and after wiggling key they would work, same with speedometer.ABS stays on at times.
Ignition switch, right?
Anyway I'm installing new one tomorrow.

Easy 15 minute (one beer) job . Test drove it and everything is back to normal except speedometer. Sometimes works sometimes it doesn't, any ideas?

sounds like a speed sensor or a bad gauge cluster. im prolly leaning toward the gauge cluster....

If your ABS also lights up intermittently, then its prolly your ABS module going bad.

Thanks guys, I was thinking in that direction. Only thing that confuses me is that with old switch, by wiggling key, I could get speedo to work. Now i have to restart car couple times to get it work.
Going nuts here, without speedo cant check average gas millage and cruise control wont work.

if wiggling the key before hand made it work.... are you sure that its not a bad connection on your part then you put the connector back on the ignition? (possibility maybe).

My guess would be that with your BAD switch, you were giving it few restarts anyways and you would think that the problem is gone after you seee the neddle moving but now with GOOD switch, you do one start and ABS doesnt register it correctly and stays like that until it is restarted(few times).

Thanks again, guys. Hope this helps other people to. I have learned so much about my car here on this forum and you've been great.
I will check if I connected connector all the way.If that doesn't help will take ABS module out and try to fix it (was acting weird before). Also I have some other issues with car and will start new treads for specific problems so this one stay on ignition switch.

Yes ,
Speedometer is separate problem due to faulty ABS module. All other problems were fixed after replacing ignition switch. And is easy to replace, if I did it anybody can.
