Default Inner tie rod end question

Hi all,

So I got a set of inner tie rod ends from a friend of mine who owns a 2000 S70 GLT. He said they did not fit his car, maybe they'll fit mine.

Their part numbers are 10111 inscribed on them. I need to do both the inner and outers myself, and get an alignment from a Volvo shop shortly thereafter.

I can buy outers OEM online for $60+ and install them myself, then get an alignment OR pay $360 for a Volvo shop to install and align the car.

I just would like to know if anyone has experience with the inner tierods pictured and if they will fit my car, a 1997 850 T5.

I've been getting ready to do the same to my '93 and have been looking at suppliers. I have found there are different inners for the TRW rack. So find out if either your friend has a TRW rack, or those are the inners for one.
You may want to be sure of which rack you have. Other than that I have'nt found any other reason.

My friend (tomesci) says to call napa to find out what rack fits my car, maybe I can narrow it down that way.

He told me they can find the rack based on my chassis code on the driver firewall beside the battery, the numbers are 854v1368421.

eh, buy the stuff, install it yourself and go to anyplace that had a digital alignment machine. The "DEALER" does not have anything special, just what everybody else has.

I tried to interchange that number but noting comes up on any of the search engines or parts sites I use. It may be a date stamp or production run or ???? Best I can do

These are the specs for the inner tie rod ends on your T5
Overall Length (Dimension D) : 7.46"
Rack End Thread (Dimension A) : M14 - 1.50

Thank you for the diligence Frog!

The numbers on the 5th line on the firewall by the battery are GGXAAMS.

The other way to check would be to call around and see if a parts store had one for your car and then compare yours to theirs.

there are 2 types of inner tie rods

this is what i think:

850's are supposed to have the same tierod (including AWD's)

however the 98 v70 AWD's have a different inner tie rod, which is what those look like. Also the 850/v70 AWD racks are interchangeable, but not the tie rods.

The thread on the Inner tierod for the AWD is real short and think (like that) and the thread for the 850 is long and skinny.
