Just bought an 850 Turbo, now what?
So i needed a car to replace my 93 Cadillac Coupe DeVille and i came across a 95 850 Turbo for (asking)$1750. I got it down to $1200 and i feel i got a good deal. It has 166500 miles. Within the last 2yrs/10,000miles its had a timing belt done, new tires, new battery, tune up, new fuel pump, and a few other minor things.
Now there are a few things that I have questions about, and this being my 1st Volvo i have a lot to learn I'm sure.
Reading in the forums i checked the dipstick tube for "smoke" and it was shooting out like a train so i need to change the PCV but what else should i change while I'm at it?
My sunroof don't open but i can hear the "clunk" like its trying so i know the switch is good and the fuse is good so what should i look at?
My passenger seat is reclined and broken that way. I read how to fix this by taking apart the seat and how its a huge pain so would i be better off just hitting up my local yard and getting one? if so what model seats will bolt in?
Under full throttle it boost good, but i get a momentary hiccup feeling like the TC kicked in but my TRAC and ABS lights are on. And as for those what should I look for to fix that?
It looks like about 1/2 my dash lights (background lights) are burnt out, is it worth my time to take the dash apart to fix them?
Lastnight I filled the gas and thats when I found a fuel leak from what looked like around the filler tube going into the tank, but its possible its from the top as it was all down the sides and the fuel pump was changed not to long ago. right now i plan to just not top it off anymore, but how hard is it to drop these tanks and seal um right?
This is an almost 20yo car so i know not to expect a perfect vehicle, and i know my way around a wrench so I can fix about anything that goes wrong. I plan to keep this running for my 12yo son as i feel it would be a great car for him.
Thanks for any advice

Hi Erik,
Looks like you and me are in the same boat. I just got my hands on an 850 Turbo of the same year. I am having more or less the same pains as you. One thing that seems to be a big issue is that when all the vacuum hosing is connected, the car idles horribly. I am still looking to sort out why but in the mean time I just leave the problem vacuum device unplugged.
Overall I think you are right about this car being a good starter ride. I have roughly the same mileage and all things ( transmission, engine, turbo, and steering) are in phenomenal condition for its age.
Any rate, I will be sorting out some of the same interior issues you are facing, but I will be dealing will be dealing with vacuum issues, rear shocks, slight body damage, and cracking front brake lines.
Keep posting on your progress.
Good Luck!

I've chcked my local junkyard and there are a few s70/v70 and one 850 wagon. When I have more time I'll be getting at least the front seats from one of the s70s and maybe the rear seat but don't know yet. I need a trunk and a new chin spoiler so I'll be looking those over as well. This is my daily driver so anything I do need to be able to be wrapped up in a day.

rips, I'm sure its a 95. Ive since fixed the passenger seat recline, someone pulled one of the gears out (i assume to fix the driverside). I replaced the plugs and that cleared up the bogging at full throttle (the pulled ones were gapped at 45). I among getting boost leak Vac is fine, but under full boost i can hear the air leaking and its only boosting to about 6-7psi (i installed a gauge). I plan to replace the intercooler hoses with silicone ones off eBay and cleaning up the intercooler inside while theyre off.
