So I just found a great deal on an '85 740 GLE turbo diesel wagon with only 45k miles on it. It looks and feels brand new. However I am going to take it on a cross country road trip and want to make sure I have all my bases covered. The previous owner said he just changed glow plugs and fluids.

What else should I look at....belts....?

 

Hmmmm... Actually you want to look at a lot more depending on what has been done recently. 45K sounds great but it's not just miles but also time that deteriorates a car's systems. Rubber and plastic dry up. I'd look into it more carefully. A 1985 car is still 25yrs old...
