Default Just got timing belt done..

Hey i finally got my timing belt, tensioner, pulley, idler and water pump done! 5 hours of labor, coolant, and thermostat totaled $470 from a local euro mechanic. He cleaned the engine bay too. He said that he needed a part time mechanic and could tell i was interested in repairing my car and offered me a job there a few hours a week. I told him how i don't really know that much but he said that he could teach me easy stuff first like oil changes and brake jobs and i could keep learning. I'm really exited, i always wanted to learn how to repair cars but now i finally have somone to teach me. I just wanted to post because i was syked.

Congratulations. Never hurts to learn more about a car. I learn more every day.

I was nervous about the timing belt and water pump job.

It took us about that long, but we took smoke breaks and went to get lunch, along with buying a 3/4" HUGE rachet to do the serpentine belt tensioner. A 1" one was too big I found.

Not too many Euro car guys in my area.

If it isn't GM, it isn't a car. That's what I hear a lot.

Congrats on the position. Knowing how to repair your own car is such a great skill to have. This training will be a life savor for you in the long run.
