Just when you think all is well...tire
I just got all the fuse issues fixed and then this morning I got a flat on the way to work! I called my roadside assistance that comes with my insurance policy. The guy arrived and when he pulled the donut tire out to put on it was all cracked. Probably never used and I guess after 17 years riding around it got all dried out. He put it on and followed me a couple of blocks where I bought a new tire and had it put on. They did not carry the donut tires. So now I know I don't have a spare. In the past, ignorance of this fact was pretty darn comforting. Where can I get just the tire as the rim is fine? I need to do this soon!!!!
Thanks!
Thanks!
One of the first things I do when I get a new/used car is take every tire off and get a full size spare. If I'm rolling down the freeway going somewhere 700 miles away, I don't want a doughnut on there for 3 seconds. All of my cars have a full size spare. I have seen several of those spare tires just all rotted out. Belts out of the side walls and all.
Thanks for the heads up RSPI. I have never looked for my spare tire. I really only drive back and forth to work,a total of 7 miles. I'll have to look to see if I can even find it. Wouldn't they all be dry rotted after 16 years?
I cannot believe I've never thought about it . Maybe because I've carried AAA for years and never used it?

Yes it will fit. I have been blessed. I had a spare Volan when I had those on my yellow. I got the spare at a Volvo salvage yard, it was sitting there for years.
Now I have a spare Titan in my wagon.

You can get the space saver spares at tire shops but I'm with Rspi, if you're going to have a spare, get a spare wheel, matching or steel and have a matching tire mounted on it.
If you're good or if you remember to tell the shop about it you can do a five wheel rotation each time and you'll end up wearing all five out fairly evenly.
What isn't said is that if your car is front wheel drive and you get a flat on the front then you are supposed to move a back tire to the front and put the space saver on the rear. Opposite if it's rear wheel drive. The space saver in almost all cases will be a smaller diameter and it will stress the differential heavily.
