Default RE: Keyless Entry

There is 2 types of remotes.
Here is how you program it.
With all the doors and hood shut.
Turn the key on and off 5 times on the 5th time leave it on the Led on the dash should be flashing. Hit the button on the remote. The led should stop flashing for a second that means the remote is programming. Then it will began to flash again. Then turn the key off and remove from ignition and see if the remote works.

According to a German friend, he says you have to turn the key on and off 5 times within 10 seconds, leaving it on the 5th time. The full advice is here:

My manual (translated from German into hopefully understandable English)
suggests:

All units (max 4) have to be programmed simultaneously

Close all doors, bonnet, and trunk
Within 10 sec turn the ignition 5 times on and off, keep it turned on the fifth
time
Press one of the 2 buttons on the remote unit
Attention: the first unit has to be programmed within 15 sec , the other ones
within a maximum of 10 sec between them.
Turn off ignition, test the remote units
If you are not sure how to program the remote units, turn to your Volvo dealer

Default Volvo 850 remote programming that worked for me

I bought a remote off of E-bay, did the following, and it worked:
Can do up to 4 units ...

Default best buy on remotes?

Can anyone suggest a relatively inexpensive but reliable keyless remote?
Thanks,
JimBee

Regarding aftermarket RKE, this is what i put in the wife's saturn: http://www.slickcar.com/productdetai...ProductID=2202 It's works fine and was cheap, but would not recommend it if you don't already understand how relays and lock solenoids work since the instructions were quite poor and email support was abysmal. That being said, the product itself works well, once you figure how it works and how to wire it into you vehicle. I have not installed one in my 850 yet; if i ever get around to it i will write up a step-by-step and post it here.
