Default Keyless entry for 850R

If the remotes are good but the keyless system still doesn't work, what is the solution? I am hearing something about the control box?

Well the dealer said both of my keyless remotes are working. i have one that came with the car and 1 I just bought off of ebay because I thought the first remote was bad. I dont know if the first remote was original with the car. I tried to program doing the on off to the # II position 5 times and on the 5th time press the unlock button, it didn't work. Ah it would have been nice if it did work.
The dealer told me it would be 100 bucks to program the receiver to the remote. How much is the relay and the receiver? Where are they located? Easy to install? I saw you would ship me your receiver (or was it the relay) for 20 bucks. So if I buy a new receiver I have to get it programmed regardless, right? Thanks for all the info, appreciate it.

Does the LED on the dash light at all?
When you try to program it(Key cycles) does the LED light up?

There is like 5 different remotes for these cars you might not even have the right one.

What year is the car?

Nope, the LED does not light up. My car is a 1997 850R (BLACK). What about the batteries for these remotes? What is the correct battery size / number for these remotes?

If the dealer checked the remotes and said they are good, the batteries are good. Those guys would not install new batteries, I don't think.

If the light on the dash does not flash fast like the instructions indicate, you either have a bad control box or bad relay. Not sure what you would have to pay for a used relay, but the new ones are about $115.

Each control box has a SN on it. The remotes have to match the SN on the box in some way. I would assume that the remote you had, would work with the current control box, if that is the one that come with the car. Did it ever work?

Does the light in the dash light up when you lock the car with the key?

The dealer I went to seemed a little "off " to me. I have 2 remotes, one with batteries in it and one without. They tested both and said they were working and told me the remotes didnt have to have batteries in them to be tested.
I dont see any numbers on the remote to make sure it matches to the control box.
I dont know if it ever worked, I bought it recently and has never worked for me.
Yes the light on the dash lights up when I lock the doors manually.
Any idea what battery goes in these remotes? I have 2 differrent battery sizes and dont know which one is the right one. Thx

Which style remotes do you have?
If it is a 97 it should have the skinny longer ones.
If it is a 96 it should be the wider one.

My batteries are the size of a quarter. The battery rating is inside the cap, something like 2025 (just checked, it's on the back).

Sounds like you have the same problem that I had/have, a bad relay. There is a chance that it is the control box, but more likely the relay.

Here is the relay at FCP: http://www.fcpgroton.com/product-exe...ategory_id/171

Not sure if I'd purchase a used one from a yard. They seem to go bad a lot.

I checked the inside of the cap and nothing. I have the 97 remote. The two batteries I have are numbered are 1216 and 1220. They are both the same size in diameter but the 1220 is a little bit fatter. The reason I have 2 battery sizes is because the original remote that I have, came with the 1220 and the one I just bought off of ebay is 1216. What is up? Thanks for the input tech. Hey rspi thanks for the relay link. Didn't you say you had a relay that you would ship to me for 20 bucks? Or was that someone else?

I have a remote receiver box.

Is the battery size on the back of the remote like mine?

Sounds like you have the same remotes as my 960. I have two 1220's in it. It's a longer remote than my 850 square ones.
