Hi everyone,

I just finished restoring the leather on my front seats and center console of my 855T. I had some pretty bad cracks on the seat bottoms and console. I used some stuff from a company called leatherique.com. I highly recommend them. The seats look great. I can post some before and after pics if anyone is interested. I definitely saved a lot of money because my local leather repair shop wanted like $600 to do everything. I only spent about $100 or so (and some of my time) and it wasn't really that hard to do. Thanks! It really wasn't that hard to do, just a little time consuming. I did the whole project in a weekend. The driver's seat had cracks in it and I fixed them with the filler they make. You actually sand off the old leather dye which is a little scary but I figured anything would look better than what I had. If you decide to do it I can give you a few other pointers to make it easier.

Maybe someone else will want pointers.It won't workon my seats because they are cloth racing seats.

 

That's pretty impresive. Wonder if there is anything I can do with the suede on the seat cushion on the 850R? Itis kind of balled up alittle bit. Other than that it's in great shape.

 

I'm not sure how it would work with suede and how the dye would take to it. The instructions I had said to basically sand the leather with 600 grit and a prepping solution until as much of the dye is removed without making suede out of your seats. They specifically say do not sand so much that you end up with suede. I would shoot an email to the company and ask them what they'd suggest for your seats. They were pretty knowledgeable and might have some suggestions. If they think their dyes will work for you I'd go with a custom color matched to your car. The usually ask for a 1"x1" swatch of leather from somewhere inconspicuous like behind the seat, etc. What I did was send them my color code 3960 AND a piece of my leather door trim! The send it back of course but that gives them a real good idea of the exact color you have in your particular car.

Did you used both rejuvenator oil and Prestine Clean to get the finish you wanted. Or did you have to dye at all. I think of doing the whole interior once I repair/replace the dr. seat bottom have a 2" cut in the seat do to cracks.

I used their re-dye kit which included all of those products. Just follow their directions and you should be OK. If you really have to skip buying something I'd say maybe you don't need the prestine clean.

Did the leather repair company give you any estimateof just how long you can expect the repairs to last before the leatherstarts to crack again?
