Default MAF sensor cleaning. Bolt type?

So I was going to clean my MAF sensor tonight and put a new air filter in. Then I realized I had no idea what type of bolt was used for holding the MAF Sensor in. I've never seen this before, its just round in the center no sings of stripping.

I almost just took some pliers to them but figured I'd see whats up.

RSPI, underside is just plastic (no bolt on the bottom). Opposite side bolt is the same thing. I did some searching this morning and it looks like it may be an external 6 lobe security torx. Meant to not be backed out, I have no idea why these would have been used.

Just opted to remove the section of the intake hose that housed the MAF sensor and clean the sensor still installed. Hope I don't have to replace the MAF sensor anytime soon....

The sensor is not made to pull out of the plastic pipe its in. It all comes as one piece.

What he said. It's not like a GM where you can just pull the hot wire assembly. On this guy you need the whole body.

My 95 has center-hole security torx. I pull mine out to clean it regularly since I use oiled filters. This must be in a newer car. If it's not glued in, you can cut a notch to fit a flat head screwdriver into using the existing head pattern as a guide. That would make it a little easier.

Its a 95 850 turbo. I don't think that the MAF sensor was ever replaced. I saw lots of ones with center hole security torx. It was easy enough to just remove the section that houses with MAF sensor, totally had overlooked that the first time. This is after all my first Volvo rodeo.
