Default Major oil Leak

My 95 850 Turbo (117,000 miles) has started leaking oil bigtime! I've found the leak, but I'm not sure if its just a seal or an entire part that need replaced. On the drivers side of the engine closest to the firewall, on the head, there is a black plastic round part that has a wire going to it - thats what is leaking. I'm guessing its a cam position sensor, or at least a seal of some sort for the cam. Do they sell a replacement seal for this part and if not what part is it - just to make sure I get the right part??

Thanks,
Brian

The Can Position Sensor is on the cam closest to the firewall on the dirver's side. Not sure if you can buy just the seal or not.

Thats the part! I looked on fcpgroton.com and saw a seal for the cam but I'm not sure if that seal is for the sensor or the cam itself. The picture of the part didn't show a seal or o-ring with it, thats why I was wondering if the seal is a separate part. May have to callfcpgroton to find out

Replace the seal BUT is might suggest that you inspect the PCV system also. High pressure in the crack case and valve cover area could be causing the leak. Since you are going to be taking apart a lot of the top end you might as well replace the PCV system if it has not been done.

I'm ordering the PVC system, PNP switch and this seal from fcpgroton.com next week (I can deal with dripping oil and the burning smell for a few more days). I'm debating doing the PCV system myself, it doesn't look complicated, but it looks time consuming and for the next month or two, my weekendsare taken with boating so no weekend time!. The cam sensor seallooks like a few torx bolts to take it out then replace the seal and bolt it back in right?

You are almost correct.
Once the sensor is off you have to take a plate off.
Be very careful installing the plate back in. It only goes one way. Sometimes it you force it you can put it on backwords then the car won't start.

Thanks for the info. I'll mark the plate before taking it off so I get it back on correctly.
