Default Manual glt 850 94

I have a 94 glt 850 it's a manual (hard to find where I'm at) it's very clean. Iv read many form on the 2.3l turbo swap everyone say sell it but I haven't seen one the already has a manual car. I looked into it it cost about the same to swap a tranny as it will the motor. I'm not asking how to do it I just want to know what I'll need off a smashed turbo car. The new computer (I know I'll need the one from the turbo car)will be ok with a manual. Don't tell me to sell my car it's perfectly fine. Just needs a a few more hp.

I really don't think swapping the motor would be easier than swapping the trans. You would need the PCM, exhaust system, engine wiring harness, intercooler, piping, radiator, turbo coolant feed and return lines at a minimum, maybe more. While you're in there you might as well replace the clutch and motor mounts.

What do you mean, "cost about the same"? You mean cost of parts or labor? I hope you're planning on this being a DIY project; certainly not cost effective if you're paying someone to do it for you.

Like kyle said, you would have a much longer parts list in addition to what you mentioned.

Is it worth doing? Depends on your motivation. It doesn't make economic sense.. but..

Like you, I've considered this project. I used to have an '95 N/A 855; loved the car even though it was just my DD beater. But after getting the S70 GLT for the Mrs, I wanted a turbo car too, plus the N/A engine was getting tired and burning oil. Was looking for a clean low mileage 855T for at least two years before I found this '96 855T last Sept.

But before I found this one, I was beginning to think I never would, so I seriously thought about buying a wrecked turbo car, pulling the engine, rebuilding it, and swapping parts. Was going to park the wreck in the street and just pull parts as i needed them. Figured it would take me at least a couple of weekends. Funny but the Mrs wasn't too keen on the idea. Anyway it still only makes sense if your N/A car is a real clean cream-puff as far as the body goes.

Another reason I considered the project was because I wanted a sunroof-less turbo car, because I really do hate sunroofs!
But that doesn't apply to you since you have a glt.

Anyway, got my 855T now and couldn't be happier; did some minor mods to it and really makes it come alive!

If you're still interested here's a link to a guy that have actually did it; FYI:

Much, much easier to purchase a turbo car and swap a manual in it. Probably 5 times easier.

But ease isn't everything. Look around and see what kind of junkers you can find.
