Manual trans advice needed please!

I've read countless posts on auto trans, but there seems to be little in the way of manual transmission advice or how-to's, so forgive me for creating an extra thread.
After replacing the drive axle and losing some oil, I'm wondering what my best bet is to get back up and running. According to both of my books, I need to use the "recommended" oil and fill to the bottom of the top plug on the transmission.
Three questions:
Is the Redline MTF on FCP Groton an acceptable substitute for the "recommended" $22/qt. Volvo 1161645?
Should I drain and refill, or just top off? I am not sure if the transmission has ever been drained, and I've read a lot about the "if it ain't broke, don't flush it" mentality.
What size is that plug? None of my sockets will fit, and I can't seem to find the info anywhere. Would just like to go and buy 1 tool, in one trip!!!
Thanks in advance as always.

Thanks guys for the replies...
So 5w30, huh? Interesting. No wonder Volvo makes it so hard for you to figure that out.
I also am leaning towards the drain and refill (absolutely forget about the power flush!)....Tech, in your experience working on these cars, is this a fairly straightforward job, or are there any potential problems that I may run across? I always like to know the worst case scenario of what I'm up against.
Thanks!
