Default miles/km per tank curiosity

the 850's have roughly a 17 gallon tank, and was wondering how many mils everyone gets out of tank. The gas light comes on after 15 gallons, roughly. And I mean roughly because mine is a CDN car and its in litres; the gas light comes on after roughly 60 litres of fuel being burned with a 70 litre tank. So how many km, or miles does everyone get until the gas light comes on?

When i first bought the car, i was getting 500 km. It's worse than that now, but I have plugs, wires, cap and rotor in the mail for a stage 0 tune up.

Cheers.

Computer says roughly 315miles when I fill the tank. How many miles do I get...depends on how heavy my foot is.

If my numbers worked, it appears you are getting about 20-21 miles per gallon. The federal site lists fuel economy at about 17 to 26 mpg. So you are on the lower to mid but still within range depending on driving habits and roads. Tune up should help.

That is an average I presume. I get 30mpg on the freeway and 18mpg around town. This is with all new components. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, filter clean, oil.

In my R, I have driven 750 miles one 2 tanks. My trip computer says I'm getting 23 mpg around town, average speed of 33 mph.

I expect 350-400 miles on a tank. On a highway trip I can get close to 450, but with combined mostly highway commute to work, I usually get around 375 before I fill up. and it takes around 16 gal.

NEW RESULTS!

i dont know at all what i had done to my car ( i did a vacuum leak test and fixed about 3-4 leaks) and i went to go fill up gas honestly 10 minutes ago and on my drive back home the little box on the bottom of my cluster told me 680 km->0

i almost cried at what a difference was made! before i was getting
500km ->0
510-520km ->

so i mean to see it jump that high from just fixing a few vacuum leaks i guess combined with a PCV job is honestly just unbelievable! i'm gunna see what more i can suck out of my baby! AND this is WITH a P0133 code! so i'm sure when i figure that code out i sohuld expect a few more km!

Ok, I just did plugs, wires, cap and rotor, all from fcp and im not seeing much of a difference. How do i do a vacuum leak test? I heard something about putting soapy water on a brush and brush all the hoses. s_moneh, how did you do it?

ok i lied

unfortunatly this is what happened
i filled up my tnak at a gas station my trip metre showed me 680km i'll get off this tank, i freaking jumped and said ha my cars mint now

sure enough its not not only did by the time i got home it said i drove over 350+ km ( i live less then 1 km away from a gas station) but i began to panic only because it was now showing i was gettign less milage after i foudn my vacum leaks so i checked codes, apparently my MAF one stayed after i started my car and forgot to hook that up so it detected it was still bad, so now i reset it turned the car off for 10 minutes+ and then plugged it back in and reset its milege back to 680 so here i am goign like yeaa this si good now, not anymore i drove this morning my trip meter says 20.3 km and it shwos i'll get 450km off this tank, now i'm back at sqaure 1 and i wanna see results

AS FOR THE VACUUM TEST!

youll need:
-a heavy duty vacuum
-a garden hose
-maybe a pringles cap? or somthing to block off right where the MAF is conencted to the intake pipe, i used the actual plastic cover that came with a brand new MAF

so you seal 1 end of the garden hose to the vacuum side of the vacuum then u take the other end and u stick that THROUGH whatever it is you are using to block off on the intake pipe then obviously attach that to the intake pipe then turn on your vacuum and voila listen for leaks!

HOWEVER do it like this, either put the vacuum inside your garage and the car outside your garage, or put the vacuum outside and the car inside the garage, this is so u dont hear the vacuum but strickly the leaks!

When you make changes to your car, it will likely take 200 to 400 miles for the computer to adjust to the changes of the fixes.

Most milage improvements are made by the driver. Hey have a driving technique called Hypermilling. You may want to look that up and practice it. I just switched from 91 octane to 87 octane just to see the milage difference. Last time I did that it showed that i was getting 2 mpg more with 91. Now it's saying that i'm getting 1.8 more with 87. I'll wait until I put 2,000 miles on it before I arive at a conclusion.

Ok, guys, the trip comp estimate 'miles to 0' based on your recent average MPG. So if you reset comp and drive on the freeway then it will show more 'miles to empty' and it is opposite if you reset comp and drive hard it will show less 'miles to 0'
Tank on the 850 holds about 19 US gallons and warning light comes on when is about 2.5 gallons left in it
