motor cuts out at 2,000 rpm
97 glt. so ive been having this problem with my car that it wont go over 2,000 rpm... its really becoming a problem. it only does it when the motor is in a driving gear, not neutral or park. it also makes a "wooshing" noise when it cuts out, and has an odd noise coming from the center console when you let off the gas and at idle... i know this is kinda vauge but im hoping it is enough to get a general idea. it seems to only do it when its cold and wet also, it didnt do it during summer, just when it started getting cold and wet. i know it needs new spark plugs but would that really cause it to cut out so bad? any ideas would be appreciated, thanks
spark plugs couldnt hurt.
start with a visual inspection of the throttle cable under the hood, make sure nothing is in the way.
Besides that does it start well, when you give it gas, it just goes up to 2000 RPM then shifts, or it stops there and won't go up anymore

sorry guys ive been busy and havent been able to write back, it is an inline 5 turbo, it goes up to 2,000 then feels like it cuts the fuel or something, i dont think its the trans because you can still drive it and it will shift fine, just cant floor it or even try to accelerate fast or it cuts off, i can drive around at 40 all day but if i try and take off to quick it just goes to 2-3k and spudders and bogs down.
