Default My T5 died :(

Drove to Ohio from North Carolina this past weekend, looks like I either dropped a valve or its stuck open. code 1310 and po302 if I remember right. I pulled #2 plug, was covered in oil, I switched plugs same thing happened. Runs extremly rough. The rest of my plugs were all good tho. Recently when it would start it would blow a bunch of smoke out the tail pipe and I've been going thru oil quite a bit. Looks like either I pull and replace valves or buy a cylinder head here in NC,get everything I need for it (gaskets new timing belt..etc) and bring it all up to change the head,,or sell it. Any suggestions?

Its still in ohio, had to borrow a car for a month to collect my thoughts on this and go back up to figure what to do.

wow l am soo sorry this happened to you. l would keep the car if the mileage on it is good and low.how many miles do you have it anyways?the smoke coming from the tail pipe and oil burning is probably your valve stem seals worn out so you might want to change that too.wish l was in ohio to offer you some help. rebuild the head if you can.l think there is a tutorial on that.will search for it and post it up if you need it

close to 200k miles, due to time constraints looks more feesible to buy a head here and get it all ready before going down, that way it would be a straight swap. But while its apart I may as well do pcv. I hate not having it closer but hey it is what it is

If the rest of the car is nice you may want to keep it. Sounds to me like you have a burnt valve. You can get a head from FL totally ready for $400. I just did a head job on our S70 and it took me about 16 hours, 3 of which were cleaning the head gasket off. If you don't have to go back to OH I would cut bait and get another car. You can find a few to look at near you for about $2,000. It will cost you that to fix yours after you consider travel, tools, time, etc. I can loan you the tools if you want.

Honestly what I would do: You'll need a pickup, or you may have to rent one.

You rent a U-Haul tow dolly, hook it up to the truck, and tow it back, it's the cheapest way to move cars long distance, and since it's FWD, you'll only have to have the front wheels off the ground.
Then at least you can work on it stress free at home.

It's super cheap to rent those things, you'll only have to pay gas

You might want to put it up on craigslist just to see what you might get. Compared to renting a tow dolly and the gas there and back. Depends on if you love the car and want to try to save it or if it's just a way to get to work and easily replaceable.
