I know it made my 960 just a little faster but in my T-5R, it's the difference between having horses and a tiger. When I'm in E my car is not as fast nor strong. It really doesn't even sound the same, seriously. In E it feels like a GLT with less low end torque. In the S mode it feels like the tiger has been let loose. It will jerk you back in your seat. The E compared to the S is like running 3/4 power. I can't even spin tire in E. I'm sure it would be between .8 and 1.2 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

Next time I have the chance to go to a track I will run it in both modes to get good documentation of the difference. I know there is not much difference when just driving around town but when you kick it, you'll know it. Actually I think it shifts a little sooner when driving like an old lady (in S). I recently tested it in E and S, and when driving with a light foot, 22% throttle position while picking up speed, it will shift about 2 to 3 mph sooner in S mode which saves me about 1 to 2 mpg around town. Now when I drive a little more agressive, like 33% or better throttle position, it will shift later like the book says. Most people drive between 30% and 35% throttle while driving around town, I call it racing to the next light.

The T-5R is suppose to run the 1/4 mile in 14.5 seconds stock. The '96 and '97 R is suppose to do the 1/4 mile in 14.7 or 14.8 seconds. With a K & N box filter, synthetic oil, a clean PCV, and 93 Octane, I would think I could do 14.3 or 14.4.

Thanks for clearing up that blue bra thing. I was about to block my PM's for a while.

You have to be careful when posting up the 1/4 mile times for the 96-97 850R. The US market 850R was alot different than the non-US market 850R! The US market had an auto trans and a 15G! The non-US had a new M59 manual trans and a 16T turbo! The non-US market 850R ran a 15.1 stock the US market 850R ran a 16.3 stock!

Now here's the power specs!
US market 96-97 850R.......... 240hp / 220lbft
Non-US market 96-97 850R...... 250hp / 260lbft

So big difference! Translates out to about 1 second on the drag strip!

@ Vmax: Is your car a GLT or T5? Your car my not show a difference but I promise you, there is no placebo with my switch.

Mine too that was one of the things I noticed. With the switch in Eco I also noticed it produces less boost and slower spool! But in sport the boost goes higher and faster! Yes the trans shift points are also different and more sharp!

Mines a T5, but I never really looked for an acceleration difference between E and S, I just leave mine in S all the time..if I want to save gas, I stay out of boost.
