Need Another Engine - HELP...!!
Hi...I'm new here and this is a helluva way to make an introduction, but the engine on my '95 850 GLT is blown (happened on my birthday no less) and I need to get a replacement engine. I would like to put a newer year models engine in it, as my transmission was replaced in Dec. '03, and only has about 40-50k on it. I have been asking around my locale if I could put a '98 S70 engine in it, as they are basically the same engine, but what other issues am I looking at? Harness? Computer? Nobody seems to know! Forget about asking my local dealer ...that's like slamming your head against the wall!
...and then there is that whole air pump issue! When I do a search on Car-Part.com for an S70 engine, the question about the air pump is not asked, as it is when I do a search for '94-'97 year models!
Any suggestions/advice any of you can offer I'm sure will be better than what I've found out so far ...and sorry if my first post is a pain to anyone, but I want my car back!!!! I miss driving my Volvo! It was suggested to me to join a forum to exchange and share information.
Thanks and Cheers,
Randy

RE: Need Another Engine - HELP...!!
There should no be a big problem putting a 98 engine in the 850.In the end all that will happen is that you will have to use some parts from your engine.Like the intake or something like that. You don't really need to use any of the electronics from the S70 setup.Just make sure you use all your sensors or they are the same.
If im not mistaken if the S70 doesn't have an air pump then you might just have to swap your Valve cover to use it with an air pump.
