need help fast
I have had a problem for the past few weeks with my engine reving up and stay at 3 or 3.5 k . all I can do is wait for it to stop and then it is fine. well today it happened again so I pulled over because it did not go down. Now it will not start so I tried and tried finnaly it did but real rough idle now and if I rev it up it sticks at 3 to 4 k. It has been real cold here I have read all about the relay but no one says anything about the high rev. any Ideas would be appricated
thanks

When you close your throttle there is a valve right next to the throttle body, like a minature soda can with hoses coming out of each side. This allows air to bypass the throttle body so your engine does not die when you let off the throttle and it controls your idle. When the engine is cold it lets air by, sort of like an intake leak that makes the engine rev a little higher then calm down. Sounds like its not working right.

Thanks to all that replied I got it running yesterday. I cleaned the throttle body and put a can of sea foam in the tank. I let it run for ten min and then drove it hard for ten min. It ran great and did not have any problems drove ot to work today and it was fine. Now I am wondering what the he'll is wrong with it
