New axles
Hello everybody,
I have a strange noise in the front (in curbs), on both sides on my '97 850, i looked under and I can see boots being broken. I suppose I need to change the axle. I already asked the dealer who had given e a price which is pretty high (around $1000 for both axles), I did some research and I found the I can buy aftermarketorremanufactered ones, paying around $300 forthem. Can anybody tell me which ones are better, aftermarket or remanufactured? Also, any bad/good experience, adviseto share?
Thanks
Adrian

RE: New axles
Im embarrassed to say, but I fell for the $85 axle from an east coast supplier.10 months later the inner cv's went out.As soon as I saw the made in China stamp, I should have returned them. I'm the idiot for installing them. (My inner child loves to dismantle) So with pride in tow, purchased a set of axles from a european mfg company from my local german parts suppier for $135 per side. Remans are a mixed bag. Quality varies from rebuilder, reguardless of warranty, the labor involved? I suggest OE quality axles for DIY to shop install, spend a few more buck for piece of mind, unless your inner child loves to dismantle....lol
