Default New guy here ...

Hello all..My name is ANGEL and Im from Arizona.. Well I found this site due to a add in the paper for a 900 dollar 97 Volvo 850 Turbo... The price caught my attention. Well I went to look at the car tonight. It ran perfect except that it had an oil leak. The seller says that the oil leak comes from some Turbo oil return line... Am I jumping the gun on maybe buying this thing.. Im a Mustang Guy but was looking for something maybe I can toy with. Its very clean inside and out and drove smooth and idled smooth except for the oil leak... What do you guys think??

Mileage?

There is a sticky on teh top which has lots of good notes on what to look for. I would definetely get the oil leak checked out and verify that it is indeed a return line.

900 bucks and only a bad oil return line? IMO too good to be true.

As I said before, if it checks out, buy it before I come to Arizona and get it.

I drove it for a good solid hour and it felt really solid.. Really the only thing I could find wrong with it is that it has an oil leak and a few rips on the leather I checked Oil, water all fluids and all were ok ,I jacked it up and thats when I see this leak around this tube...... Im a mechanical guy but on Fords not Volvos... hmmm decisions decisions ...Its a Kid thats about 19 with a hand me down from his dad, Hes looking to buy a mustang to Hot Rod.....

BUY IT. You are not going to go wrong for $900. I got $800 for one with a blown engine. The oil return line is a piece of cake to replace. You might want to just do it before buying it to see if it fixes the leak. All you need it an O ring and a gasket.. Take the tube off replace the O ring on and instal with the new gasket. Take less than an hour, if you have no idea what you are doing. These cars are not near as hard to work on and mechanics who work on them will lead you to believe, but the do require some skill and attention to detail.

BUY IT NOW!!!
That is a awesome deal.
Parts will cost less than $10.00 to fix the oil return line and less than 1 hour of time.
With a little bit of tinkering on the car you could suprise some of the Mustang guys with it.
Believe me I know about it.
My other car is a 1987 Lx 5.0 Coupe.
It only has a few goddies in it but some of the 850 turbos out there will hang pretty close to me.
Thats why I got one myself. (besides I work on them all day long everyday)

Right now it is sitting in the Garage waiting for me to pull the engine and install a stock Cam. It is a Non-Ho engine in there converting it to a Ho. Then installing a Gt-40 intake,65MM throttle body,Crome steel upper Radiator hose,Maybe a set of 3.27 Gears(yah I know I should run different ones but I have 2.63's now and don't want to loose to much fuel milage get about 25 to 27 MPG with it now.

It is already dropped 2 inches,Has urethane bushings in the front, electric cooling fan, racing seats, and a few other things.
It is a project that will hopefully see 325 HP or more still on the Speed Density system.
