Newbie with 850 Turbo wagon ?......
I just looked at a 95 850 Turbo wagon with 149900 on it. It runs great and is in great shape for the year and milage and is loaded. By all accounts it was very well taken care of the carpets look incredible and the ashtray and lighter show no signs of use. They are asking $5250 for it but edmunds says $4600.
My real question lies in that when I test drove it on some side streets to see how it rode the creaks and rattle of the interior drove me crazy. My 99Crown Vic with 172k doesn't have 1/4 the noise. It also had TONS of body sway in corners, again unlike my CV (My CV does have performance shocks and the police sway bars though. ) Looking underneith I saw a newer set of Monroe Shocks so could some of that wollowness been attributrd to those?
S.O.
The switch that changes from economy to sport shifting....the red light would come on when switched to that but the light for economy would not come onwhen switched back. Burnt out bulb or more serious problem?
Advice? I really like the car, actually I like the look of the wagon better than the sedan but that is another story, should I wait and find a newer 850 or S70 wagon?

RE: Newbie with 850 Turbo wagon ?......
I have just bought a 95 T5 saloon with 74k miles on it for £1800 which I think is about $3300 and it's totally clean, although it's paint is thin and there is no spoiler or sunroof (I don't know if that helps with pricing or not).
On bumpy roads I have a rattle with the windows down from the rear handbrake drum on one of the back wheels but apart from that it's pretty quiet and there is very little body roll at all even while cornering at high speed.

When you switched to sport mode did you notice a change in the way the car was shifting, ie holding gears longer and changing down quicker?

Search my previous posts for a checklist of things to look out for while buying a used car.
