Default Nitric Oxide (NO) is really high, how can I lower it?

Just went through a smog check, nitric oxide levels are almost near maximum...how can I bring those down?

i just bought the car last week, so no idea how old O2 sensors are. from the looks of the records, seems like it might be original

I would change out the O2 sensors then. 166K on the original O2 sensor is a long time.

Also, how is your gas mileage?

Does your car have EGR? If it does, clean the EGR valve and ports in the intake... The main purpose of the EGR system is lowering NOx emissions. If it doesn't have an EGR system... the cat could be getting weak. But yeah, DEFINITELY change the O2 sensors... they're supposed to be changed about every 100,000 miles.
