Default No High Beams, Signals, or Hazards - Changed About Everything

Hey hey!

I tried to install some LED lights into my 1996 850 turbo, specifically brake and running lights and turn signals. It kinda worked then didnt and now I have no high beams, signals and my hazard does not work.

1.) I switched everything back other than the interior lights to incandescent

2.) Changed the turn signal with a new one from volvo

3.) New ignition switch from volvo

4.) changed out the tail bulb carriers with used ones that work

5.) Changed out the front bulb carriers with new ones

6.) I removed my trailer wiring to eliminate that and redid all the wires that were spliced

7.) Changed the hazard switch. I now have 4

Between these things Ive been pulling the battery so thats also been done several times.

The last thing Ive not replaced is the blown bulb module which I have one coming in the next few days.

Im handy with a voltmeter but I dont know what voltages I should be getting when, etc.

Any pointers would be great! Thanks!

I will be going to a junk yard this weekend to get:

1.) a headlight relay
2.) a bulb failure module
3.) another set of bulb carriers
4.) anti-theft relay

Anything else I should grab?

volvotips.com and volvowiringdiagrams.com are two good resources to see what's in your circuit paths.

I'd start with the bulb failure relay.

New/used bulb failure relay in, new/used anti-theft in, still the same issue. I pulled the fuses on my high beams and now my hazards work but my front left turn signal when used stays on. Also makes the signal click quickly like a bulb is out. Also with the fuses pulled and the cables pulled to the headlights both high and low the brights now activate the fog lamps.

So I feel like Im making progress but Im having a hard time wrapping my head around where the short could be to cause that.

Thanks mt6127 and rspi! The wiring diagrams helped and I too think it was partly that module as it was acting up before.

Got everything working again. I kept making a little progress as I was changing parts but the headlight switch ended up bring it all back to correct operation other than the left turn signal flashing too quickly like a bulb was out even when the bulbs were new. Changed the bulb to an old but working one and its now back to 100%.

Thanks!
