Default No spark after airbag replacement - Solved !!!

Recently had an accident while jam in the highway, airbags deployed. Found a set off ebay and replaced them based on instructions from http://volvo850.shutterfly.com/.

While I am trying to activate the system, the car won't start. The starter motor cranks.

After several diagnoses, I found there is no spark. There are power at green wire of starter which means no PNP switch (also starter cranks). I can smell some fuel in the air.

Per trouble shooting instructions in the pdfs, I was directed to "engine performance" section. and now I am lost.

I can confirm the ignition system is good, as I can still drive the car home after accident.

I am start to suspect fuel system, but can the fuel system failure prevent forming sparks?

I bet something with the immobilizer became messed up when you installed the air bag. Something in the steering wheel is not talking to the key so the car will not start.

Had carefully checked the voltage at the ignition discharge coil this morning, about 12v when cranking. Also checked voltage on the coil out from distributor, about 6v to 11v while cranking.

Engine has a good ground.

So the voltage from the discharge is too low or out of my multimeter's reading capability.

The immobilizer will prevent the starter from cranking, right? My starter cranks.

Default Solved!!!

Yes, I know I have read something like this. Now it happened to me.

Some birds take my air cleaner as their home... And this prevent enough air going to the engine. Then some sensor may prevent spark.

Here is the truth.

That's sort of funny.
