Default No start after gas

Good morning,
Today was the second time this happened since I own car. When I filled up and tried to restart the car cranked but wouldn't start for about 2 minutes. Then out of blue she kicked right over and ran perfect again.
Any info would be great, thanks

When you fill your car with gas do you stop when the nozzle automatically ticks off, or do you continue from there, getting a tad more gas in? This is a shot in the dark, but I've heard that these cars are kinda finicky when it comes to refueling in regards to continuing to put fuel in after it stops automatically.

Problems such as hard starting, or general sluggishness of the car for a brief period have been reported, if memory serves.

Two things come to mind as possibilities:
  1. Problem with EVAP system causing engine to inhale more gas fumes than it should when starting making mixture too rich. I would expect an ODB2 code to be set though..
  2. Fuel pump relay is common failure point on these cars; have seen heat soak cause them to act up.
Are you a DIYer?

UPDATE: I read in your other post that you are; good!
I would pull another FPR from the JY if available and replace yours; see if that resolves your issue. You could also replace w/new too of course; depends on how much you want/have to spend on this car..

Okay been really paying attention to starting problem immediately after gas up. I go to a gas station that has to pump for me(state law). I would much rather pump myself but oh well have to deal with it. If I top off the tank is when she cranks but don't start and then all of a sudden she starts right up ,as if someone turned on a switch, it could be in the middle of a long cranking or just as I turn the key but boom starts right up goes right to idle and off I go. when the problem occurs it is when I fill all the way up to top and then the guy tries to squeeze some more in. it normally only wont start for a minute or two and then starts right up and runs like a champ. I use about 12.00-15.00 dollars a day in gas if I only put 10.00 one day and 15.00 every other day no problems if I try to put the full 15.00 a day is when I have the problem. thanks any new info would be great, thanks

Just a suggestion. Instead of filling it up, just fill it to about the 3/4 ful mark a few times and see it the problem goes away. If it does, then I would suggest looking at the fuel tank vent system.
