Default Noobie....

Hello, I'm new to the forum also new to volvos

I just got my first volvo, I bought a 1996 850 GLT Wagon, So far I love the car, Runs great and is a very comfortable ride. My wife likes the car to, mainly cause there safe and we could fit a lot of our baby stuff for our 7 month old daughter, My father owns a 96 850 GLT Wagion also, he's the one that turned me on to volvos. I use to own a lot of Volkswagen's ( which I still love ), But I wanted some more family like. My car is very nice I love how when I drive it, it doesn't feel like I'm driving the Dreaded Station Wagon. I'm 23 and believe me if my parents said " here you go, your first car" I know i would not want a wagon. But I like the fact that the car has a 5spd in it. Makes the far feel real sporty when driving it. Plus I love the Red w/ the black trim. I bought the car with 228,000 miles and from what I've been hearing thats just th begining for her. My dad showed me a website with guys that have close to 1 million miles and more....WOW thats pretty impresseive. So i just wanted to say hello my fellow volvo drivers, and hopefully i can get all the help i need when needed....

Wow that's a lot of miles. Hope you got a real good deal on it with that mileage. Somebody must have taken good car of it, and that's the key for these cars to run 300K plus. Good luck. I'm looking for a red wagon with a five speed, but I have to have a turbo. Not going to find that in an 850 though, so I'm looking for the 98 V70 T5M and it has to be red with charcoal interior. My yellow one took me years to find.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

The key to extend the life of a car is "scheduled maintenance". This is where 90% (or more) of all drivers fail.

I'll give you a link to another thread where I have posted a basic maintenance guides, as well as my personal maintenance record format, which may give you some ideas as to how to keep a car running for a long time/many miles.

Good luck to you,

JPN
