Not sure what this part is or where it goes

I'm having some a/c issues. working on reshimming the a/c clutch but on the driver's side near the condensor/radiator looking up is this switch. I'm not sure where it goes. Any thoughts?

That's the ambient temp sensor that tells you the outside temp. It is suppose to be clipped in that thin bracket you see just below it in the pic.
