Default OBD question

I have a '94 Turbo Wagon that seems to have the OBD-1 under the hood that I used to turn off the Service light and OBDII in front of the shifter... So,, Which scanner do I need??? The cheapy one (obd-II ) from a autoparts store seems to work to reaqd codes off the inside the car location. I'd like to buy one but I want to make sure I know what to get. Thanks, Tim

Default RE: OBD question

You need a Volvo Scan Tool.

I have no clue where to find them, but they are expensive. They'll read the generic codes (just like the autozone ones), while also reading the Volvo specific codes.

Default RE: OBD question

I can suggest 2 mfgs:

1) IPD
http://www.ipdusa.com/product.asp?st...hStartRecord=1

2) Actron (CP9175 or better)
http://www.actron.com/product_detail.php?pid=16309

IPD model could be better, though I am not certain. CP9175 can only access engine & transmission ECUs but cannot access ABS, Climate Control, etc...

I do not know how you can find Volvo factory scanner. And even if you could find it, I bet the price would be outrageous. But it doesn't hurt to do a search.

I hope this helps.
