Default OBD system

Ok so i did a search and it seems this question has been beatten to death but iam still confused. I have a 95 850 it has the OBD2 port in front of the shifter and it also has the box under the hood.So what system is this car running? OBD1 or OBD2.and will an obd 2 scanner work on this.

You have both - technically it is an OBD-II system with OBD-I functionality. An OBD-II scanner will work for the powertrain codes but I find that the OBD-I codes from under the hood are a bit more precise.

Volvos - Engineered ahead of time!

Mine 94 has that OBD-II port under the coin holder and I have used it many times with OBD-II code reader. The only limit is that if you are using generic code reader then you are limited to power terrain codes only from that port where as the little box under the hood makes it possibel to read almost all codes quite extensively.
