odometer
So rathing than risking breaking something in the process of fixing my odometer I took it to my local volvo service shop. THey had it all out and had put in the new 15 tooth cog but it still would not work apparently. They reckoned the 15t had disintegrated and caused some little motor in that unit to stop working, is that possible? They had it all day on Friday and I can't believe it took them that long and still did not fix the issue.
They also returned the car back with an out whack speedo as the needle starts as -20kmh, but on the upside the vacuum hose for the turbo is back on again.

Noticed the odo working this morning, so maybe they fixed it without realising. Am going out of town tonight so will see if it works the whole way. The next thing then is the speedo needle being out of calibration, might find someone else to do it and hope that Volvo don't chase me for payment on the odo they don't think works,
