I've got a '96 850 with a broken odometer. Anyone have experience with fixing this? Apparently I need to pull off the dash and replace a small electronic box... Thanks for your input.

 

Hey there. My Dad's 94 850 had the same problem. One day at 132.401 miles the odo went kaput for about a year before he had it fixed.
He took it to the dealer in San Antonio and they replaced the odometer. Next year when I leave for the navy the car becomes mine.

There is a plastic gear inside the odometer that is broken. The part is readily available on the web or I can sell it to you. You will need to remove the upper dash pad to remove the instrument cluster. Dissasemble cluster and replace gear. For a 1st time average do-it-yourselfer it should take !2 hours.
