Default odometer miles correction

I recently bought a 94 (non-turbo) 850, and of coursethe odometer was not working. I have purchased the gear to correct the problem with, but I would like to know if anyone knows any way to find out how many exact miles the car really has on it, so when I put the new gear on, I can change the odometer to show the actual, and correct miles. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Easiest way would be to have the Dealer pull the milage.

You could also give this a try:

As long as you have the DTC boxes up under the hood ('93-'95).

1. Switch ignition on

2. Connect the fly wire to socket - A7

3. Push button 5 times

4. When LED comes on and stays on, enter code 1-1-1 as follows:
- press the button once when LED is still on
- wait for LED to go out and come on again
- press the button once when LED is still on
- wait for LED to go out and come on again
- press the button once when LED is still on
- read off response, which will be the last three digits of the odometer miles

5. Repeat steps #3-4, but enter code 1-1-2 (that is, press the button twice on the last step); read off the response, which will be the first three digits of the odometer miles. If you have less than 100,000 miles, the first digit will read as 10 blinks.

I read my actual mileage on my 1994 and then corrected it with a battery drill and a pencil.

Thanks all!! I did it by the DTC and it worked great!!! When I had the mechanism apart replacing the gear, I reset it to correct miles and it now works fantastic! I also replaced the bulbs while I had the thing out...so hopefully...no more removing the head! Thanks again for all your help!!!

Yes it is. The Dealer will need to pull the milage.

Yes, it seems that after 95, it is a lot harder (if not impossible ) to get information out of the ECU without a code reader or dealer software
