odometer probs!!
I am having some problems with my odometer on my 94 850. It stopped working today. Does anyone know how to figure out what is wrong with it?? Any help would be appreciated!
BTW: I tried the goo-gone on the sticker adhesive on the window tint and the adhesive came right off without messing up my tint. This can now be recommended..

I will bet the gear in the odometer motor went bad.
It is common on these cars to go bad.
They usually break because people reset them while driving which is a big NO NO.
The gears can be bought online.
I made a post in the top of the 850 section on how to remove the Dash Pad to gain access to replace the bulbs. That will work for you to get the the speedo assembly.

Thanks Tech! Was hoping you would answer! Are the parts needed for the repairs available at a place like Advance Auto? The closest Volvo dealer is 50 miles away! Should have thought about that when I bought it huh?? Also, have another question. When I brake at high speeds and try to slow down fast I get this grinding feeling coming from the back of the car. Could the brakes need changing also??
No Advance will not sell them.
Here is a site that sells them it is at the bottom of the page.

I had the odometer go out and replaced both gears from odometer gears. A new odometer from the dealership would have been $450 installed...
Tech's instructions are good for getting into the dash, just make sure you do not pull up on the airbag cover (it looks like it comes off) and take the 4 bolts out that hod the airbag to the frame (once you take the glove box insert out)
