odometer stuck!? what to do?!
hey
would like to know what could be wrong with a stucking odometer in an 1994 850 Volvo?!
did u ever heard about thta it just stucked at some point or do I need to consider that someone made it with purpose to get a better price for a used turbo wagon?
how much could it be to repair it and is it possible to do this kind of stuff by DIY?
thanks

RE: odometer stuck!? what to do?!
Greetings from Yokohama, Japan.
850's odometer seems to fail sometimes. The gear teeth seem to have been poorly designed. Refer to the following:
http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/odometer_fix.php
http://www.google.co.jp/search?hl=ja...dometer&lr=
Should you decide to attack this yourself, you will need to remove the dash top cover, which is held by several Torx screws (be careful with pax-side SRS, make sure to disconnect the battery before proceeding). Also, getting into the inst cluster requires meticulous work & attention to detail.
I hope this helps.

Your Volvo will record the actual mileage it has travelled.
This mileage is loggedinto thefault diagnostic unit and can be read from there.
It can't recall what the steps are to recover thevehicle mileage from the fault diagnostic unit, but I'm sure the information has already been posted on thisforum somewhere.

RE: odometer stuck!? what to do?!
Hi Yvo,
"Fly wire" is the wire that is nested in the OBD-I terminal. The OBD-I terminal is situated in front of the ECU box. Open the hood, look to the left and you'll see a black plastic box in front of the coolant reservoir. In front of the ECU box, there is another little box, and that is the OBD-I terminal. Take the lid off, and you'll see two sockets, each marked as "A" and "B". Take the fly wire off of its nest and insert into the hole #7 on the socket A and follow the procedure provided by AB. When you press the button, make sure to press it firmly, as it feels somewhat loose.
Clearing Service Light for OBD-I:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the 2nd detent (ON?).
2. Insert test lead at the OBD-I terminal to socket A7.
3. Press the test button for 4 times. The LED should light and stay on.
4. Press the test button once and release, wait for the LED to light.
5. Press the test button for 5 times and release, wait for the LED to light.
6. Press the test button for once and release.
7. The LED should flash, which indicates the Service Light has been cleared.
8. Start the engine and ensure that the service light is turned off.
I hope this helps.

Hello mate,
I've attached a pic, but I guess it's now useless that you've already found the actual mileage.
