Default Oil light came on..oh no!

My wife said the oil light came on a week ago, I met her and checked the oil it was full and I started the car and the light did not go on. It was hot that day and she had the A/C on so I thought the oil was thin and gave a false reading. We had the oil changed about 4 months ago. Well today she called the same thing.. oil light was on and when I got home the oil level was full (still) and when I started it it ran fine, no ticking, and the light did not go on. The car has over 166k miles on it not sure since speedo does not work. Tonight we drove to soccer ran the car on side streets and then brieflyon the highway, NO oil light! NOW Iam not sure what it is. I thought maybe an oil sensoror possibly something much worse! Anyone have any suggestions?

Could be a faulty oil pressure sender.

+1.

Also, make sure to use SAE 10W-30 oil and OEM filter (MANN). For turbo, change oil & filter at every 3,000 miles, for NA, change them at every 5,000 miles.

I would drive the car if I were you.
Try to get it to have the light come on. Then pull over safely when it does and with the engine running remove the oil cap and make sure you have oil pressure in the top of the engine. If you do then it might be a faulty sensor.
If you don't see much oil then you might have bad oil pan o-rings.
Or something else might be starting to fail.
